  A recently completed development called The Water View, for example, went into receivership with its initial builder. Though it was located next to a marina, adjacent to a lakeshore park and in the middle of Barrie's downtown, the 15-storey project still proved to be a tough slog on the sales side. But Invar Building Corp. eventually came to its rescue.

  Launched in late July, Nautica will include 146 suites and eight townhouses, at a base price of $200,000. That's a little on the pricey side for Barrie, but the project will have a very lush setting in what is now a derelict marsh.

  The towers will share a two-storey podium with a terrace lounge, indoor pool and fitness centre.
