Newman, Alex. (2006, 16 September). "Absolutely spectacular". Toronto Star.
It's hard to deny the impact that the new Absolute condo tower has and will continue to have on the skyline of downtown Mississauga.
The building, designed by noted architect Yansong Ma, is affectionately dubbed the Marilyn Monroe for its suggestive curves.
Hanes, Tracy. (2006, 22 July). "`Marilyn Monroe' gains mate". Toronto Star.
Response to the launch of the 56-storey Absolute World 1 condominium, dubbed the Marilyn Monroe for its sensually curving shape, has prompted the addition of a second tower, with 50 storeys.
After the launch of the first tower, inquiries flooded in from 7,000 prospective buyers; 6,000 registered online and at the sales centre. Its 432 units are virtually sold out and the second 430-unit tower, launched last weekend, is 60 per cent sold, says Danny Salvatore, president of Fernbrook Homes.
Absolute World 2 has also been designed by Yansong Ma of the MAD Studio, whose design for Absolute World 1 was the winner of an international design competition, held by Fernbrook to seek out the best architectural talent for the project. (Fernbrook Homes and Cityzen Developments are partners in the development).
"Absolute launches second tower to meet overwhelming buyer demand". (2006, 14 July). Fernbrook Homes.
Unprecedented buyer demand has persuadedthe creators of Mississauga's new Absolute Community to immediately launch the50-storey companion tower to its critically acclaimed 56-storey AbsoluteWorld.
The new tower, Absolute World 2, will be a companion to Absolute World 1,dubbed Marilyn Monroe by critics for its sensuous, curving design.
Yansong Ma, of the MAD Studio, is the winner of an international designcompetition staged by Fernbrook Homes this winter to seek out the best ininternational architectural talent for its signature towers. Yansong's grandvision for Absolute World consists of two unique buildings designed tocomplement and enhance each other, each with its own personality, but createdfrom the same architectural language. Commenting on the design Yansong Masays, "They talk to each other and harmonize with each other. There is asynergy between them, an aura which transcends each of the individualbuildings to create a totally unique and original urban space."
