The demolition of Princess Margaret Hospital marks the end of an era and the rebirth of another with a 34-storey condominium project and two blocks of stacked townhouses destined to change the face of the neighbourhood.
In all, 379 homes will occupy the former hospital site at 500 Sherbourne St., ranging from a one-bedroom unit at 613 square feet to a 1,200-square-foot unit with two bedrooms and a den.
Prices are not set yet, but should start at about $185,000. There are 335 high-rise units and two stacked townhouse buildings of 20 and 24 units.
Demolition of the hospital has been underway for about a year, and foundation excavation should start early in 2005. Occupancy is slated for 2007.
