  • "Project pays tribute to city forefather". (2007, 17 February). Toronto Star.

Monarch is paying tribute to a legacy.

The Legacy condominium at Heron's Hill honours Samuel Heron, an immigrant from Scotland who moved to York in 1792. He became one of the city's forefathers with a plot of land known as Heron's Hill, once the home of Heron's timber and grist mills.

More than 200 years later, Monarch recently celebrated the grand opening of Legacy – what will be the first of three buildings in a master-planned condominium community dedicated to Heron's memory.

With an actor in 19th-century period costume ceremoniously handing keys to the site to Monarch president Brian Johnston, the sales office celebrated its official opening.

Located at Sheppard Ave. and Yorkland Rd., Legacy will feature a 25-storey design with an adjacent five-storey midrise building.

  • Yu, Sydnia. (2006, 1 December). "New tower in North York's Heron's Hill proves a hit". Globe and Mail.

More than 150 units — about half of the suites currently on the market — were snapped up during the opening weekend at Monarch's new condominium project in North York.

The response to the development, called Legacy at Heron's Hill, didn't surprise the builder. It had sensed that the location near Sheppard Avenue and Highway 404 — close to the Fairview Mall and Don Mills subway station — would be a major hit. After all, the company's head office has thrived there for more than 36 years.
