  At Markham Place condos in Scarborough, prices start at less than $200,000 for an 800-square-foot, two-bedroom unit and include a parking space.

  Kita Nakabayashi, sales representative for VHL Developments, builders and developers, says, "we are building two towers of about 400 suites in total, near the intersections of Markham Road and Highway 401. It's really convenient whether you commute, or rely on public transportation. We're also just a few minutes from the LRT subway and Scarborough Town Centre."

  Suites range from about 730 to 1,100 square feet. The largest has three bedrooms and is priced at $249,990. All suites include one parking space and have a balcony or terrace. There were nine townhomes available, but they have sold out.

  The security package includes a concierge, personal encoded keypad alarm system, live surveillance cameras in strategic locations, and emergency response key chain pendants. Sales began in late April and more than 70 per cent have sold. Construction is scheduled to start in January. Occupancy dates will be about summer 2008 for the first building. Construction of the second tower will be started about six to nine months after that.
