  • Hume, Christopher. (2005, 20 January). "A condo that makes a point". Toronto Star.

The Distillery, the 19th-century industrial complex that's fast being turned into a major cultural destination, is also becoming a very desirable place to live. Already there are three residential slabs in the immediate vicinity; now Distillery owners, Cityscape, have announced they will build a fourth.

Unlike the first three, however, this one will be designed by one of Toronto's pre-eminent condo architects, Peter Clewes of architectsAlliance. Preliminary drawings show a tall, thin tower that sits on top of a five-storey brick podium. The podium, which will fill a large triangular property at the southeast corner of Parliament and Mill Sts., reaches dramatically to a point at the west end of the site.

Clewes has also introduced a vocabulary of glass and steel, which is intended to make the building seem lighter and as transparent as possible. Given that it will stand 100 metres high, this approach makes a lot of sense.
