Lighthall, W.d.. (2005, 9 July). "Carlton St. site designed with neighbourhood in mind". Toronto Star.
Two condo towers planned near Yonge and Carlton Sts. have been designed with neighbourhood traditions in mind.
The buildings are the 43-storey Met (Phase 1), and the newly launched Encore at The Met, 33 storeys, both planned for a site on Carlton just east of Yonge.
The Met towers are designed with setbacks at storeys seven, 22 and 31.
"We tried to be very sensitive to existing architecture and building heights in the area," says G.P. DiRocco, vice-president of Edilcan Development Corp. "Every time they set back, it's a reference to other nearby building heights."
Sales in Encore at The Met began in early June and about 40 per cent of the building's 325 units have sold. They range from 356-square-foot studios to two-bedroom units of 916 square feet and cost from $129,990 to $252,990.
"Downtown property a hot seller". (2005, 9 June). Metro.
The success of The Met Phase 1 has prompted Edilcan to introduce Encore at The Met.
A total of 125 suites — almost 40 per cent of the total suites — in Phase II at this community sold the first weekend to buyers looking to live in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Located at Carlton and Yonge Streets, Encore will rise to 33 storeys — a neo-modern work of shimmering glass.
Encore at The Met will encompass 325 suites, six Maisonettes on the ground level, and seven town/lofts on the third floor above the Maisonettes.
