By contrast, 105 Victoria is about as non-descript as a building can get and still be called a building. Standing 14 storeys tall, it's a structure that has been carefully fitted into its corner site. Too bad it fails to live up to expectations.

Though it addresses the intersection with a nicely curved front, the architecture stops there. It's unfortunate, too, that the entrance to the underground parking garage was put just north of the entrance, which should have been on the corner rather than on Victoria.

The cladding - slabs of precast concrete with aggregate - is as resolutely ordinary as are the details. If only better quality materials had been used, the results might have been outstanding.

The designers got the size right; they understood the basic configuration, but after that they were clearly at the mercy of a developer who apparently couldn't see beyond the bottom line.
